Funders In 1994 the Massachusetts Department of Education awarded CASE Collaborative and Concord Family and Youth Services, a division of Justice Resource Institute, $154, 256 to build a network of family support services in an 11- town catchment area. In this 2007 program year, the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care awarded a budget of $134,006 to support First Connections. Now in our 13th year of service, First Connections receives additional program funding from private donations, including the Community Chests of Concord-Carlisle, Maynard and Stow, the Acton- Boxborough United Way, and the Town of Boxborough, in addition to grants and private donations.

Staff Ellen Weisstein, MS in Family Studies Director Ellen is responsible for fiscal and clinical management of the program and grant, supervision of staff and consultants, responsible for board growth and development, group facilitator, out reach to community groups and agencies. Linda Matthews Ass. Degree Office Manager Linda is responsible for outreach to the community through the coordination of the First Connections newsletter, flyers and pamphlets. Jane Turner Michael, BA Family Support Specialist Jane is the primary liaison to the First Connections’ eleven allied Parent Associations; she facilitates playgroups, a support group for parents of multiples, and provides parenting information through consultation. Mary Rowlinson R.N. Adoption Specialist Mary facilitates the monthly Adoption Play & Learn group for children under three and their parents; coordinates the We Are Family support group for adoptive or foster parents of older children, and provides parent consultation via phone, office and home visits.
